Is It Possible Incompetence Is Its Own Reward?
by Holden Watch
Get this: Media reports reveal that, seven months after Tim Holden and the rest of the Congressional Democrats passed the massive, spending-on-steroids stimulus bill, 49 out of 50 states have lost jobs.
What's more, after adding more than 50,000 new federal positions, including thirty or so unelected and poorly-vetted czars plus their staffs, even Washington, D.C. has lost jobs.
No way, right?
Way!
Only North Dakota has picked up jobs, a whopping 1800 of them. Ignoring the millions of lost jobs elsewhere in America, that comes to more than $473 million per job created from the $787 billion stimulus package. Timmy and the Ds should be very proud of what they've accomplished. The country is obviously in the very best of hands.
Democrats told us that Pennsylvania alone would add 143,000 jobs if the stimulus was passed. In fact, seven months along, Pennsylvania's net job picture is dramatically negative and worsening.
The Democrats' estimate of total national job creation from the stimulus is off by more than 6 million. This week another 571,000 new jobless claims were reported, far exceeding administration expectations.
You remember the stimulus bill, don't you? It's the 1000+ page monstrosity that was passed, unread and un-debated, only days after the inauguration - the one Tim Holden voted for because, as he said then, "Doing nothing is not an option."
News flash for Tim Holden: Doing nothing is ALWAYS an option.
And, when Tim Holden and THIS Congress tell us something is a good idea, doing nothing should be the ONLY option.
Not to worry, though. Even though few jobs were added while millions were lost, dozens of Democratic special interest groups benefitted from the non-stimulative stimulus. They can be counted upon to show their gratitude by filling Democrats' campaign coffers, Tim Holden's included.
So you see, incompetence IS its own reward.
